Christmas is just around the corner and there’s no better way to get into this festive spirit this year than with our exciting list of X-mas events that are jam packed with Christmas magic.
Plan the perfect day out in London with a Christmas pantomime or strolling through Winter wonderland, there are plenty of things to do this year to keep your kids entertained.
Step inside a winter wonderland as Hogwarts in the Snow has transformed the Harry Potter sets with a seasonal makeover. At the wizarding world of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, you can get up close to props, costumes and models, finding out how they were made. You can also see the Forbidden Forest for the first time, dusted in snow. Ticket prices start at £47, and they are available to book from the 13th November to the 16th January.
Visit the famous botanical gardens that has been transformed into a snowy paradise between the 17th November to the 9th January. Kew Gardens offer the perfect Christmas setting with their glittering trail made up of more than one million lights. Some of the attractions include: Santa’s grotto, a dancing illuminated fountain, vintage rides, and traditional festive treats.
Explore The Gingerbread City, an exhibition of an entire city made of gingerbread, which will be open from the 4th December to the 9th January. This year’s city explores the theme ‘transport’ with over 100 architects, engineers and designers expected to use their design expertise (and baking genius) to create a city that explores imaginative new ways of moving around our densely populated cities – all made entirely from gingerbread! You can also take part in gingerbread house-making workshops. Family workshop ticket (1 adult, 1 child): £40.00.
At inTuition clubs we’re holding our own Frosty Festival 2021, on the 18th December at 12:15! All Children from ages 5-11 are welcome to come along for an afternoon full of fun. We’ll be decorating Christmas cookies (Vegan and gluten free options are available), making our own Christmas decorations and having a ‘best Christmas card’ competition. Ice skating is a must for any Christmas weekend and there’s no better place than outside the National History Museum. This will be the final year of the Ice Rink at the Natural History Museum as it will be turning into an Urban Wildlife project, so don’t miss out! The rink will be open from 11.00-22.00 daily till the 16th January. Ticket prices: Adults from £12.65 and Children from £8.80 but discounts are available if you are buying museum tickets as well.
From strong men to contortionists, acrobats to musicians, knife throwers and much more. Circus 1903 will amaze, captivate, and transport audiences of all ages to the mesmerising Golden Age of circus. From the 16th December to the 2nd January be in awe by circus acts and stunts that Circus 1903 brings big-top performances to the Southbank Centre. Ticket prices start from £25.
Prepare for the brand new Peppa Pig live show packed full of songs, games, and laughter, it really is the best day ever for Peppa Pig fans! If you have children who are on the younger side, Peppa Pig on her Best Day Ever will be the perfect choice! Watch as she comes across dragons, dinosaurs, and lots of muddy puddles. Available from the 6th to 12th December, see The Nutcracker on Ice, as the much-loved storyline plays out on Alexandra Palace’s ice rink with a family-friendly twist. This year, our pantomime on ice tells the story of Clara and her adventures in an enchanting kingdom created by her mother many years before. When Clara enters this magical world, it appears all is not as it should be, and together with the help of the Nutcracker Prince, they must find the key to regain order once again.
Add extra sparkle this Christmas as Winterfest: Reunited in Light in Wembley Park will have the tallest LED Christmas tree in London, adorned with digital artwork by local artist Yoni Alter. The City Lights, made up of 100,000 kinetic lights, which pulse to different rhythms to evoke the pace of a cityscape, will be on display on the 25-metre-high walk-through tree. Available to view from the 25th November to the 4th January.
Lightopia London promises to bring the history of Crystal Palace Park to life, with a fantastic Christmas light walk, creating a winter wonderland of illumination. Come to see central London’s largest Christmas light display, with immersive installations perfect for a family Christmas outing, office Christmas party and much more. Visit from the 19th November to the 2nd January.
A staple in the Christmas Market scene, there are gentler rides for all ages, including a helter skelter and the Christmas tree ride, plus the chance to take on the ice slide, as well as more adrenaline-fuelled festive thrills. There’s an entry charge of £5 or £7.50, although if you book rides, attractions, and games worth £20 per person, you get that refunded.
Book well ahead for a chance to meet the man himself at the popular Santa’s Grotto at Hamleys, in Regent Street. Join Santa and his loveable elves at the Hamleys North Pole for a magical Santa’s Grotto experience where you’ll get the chance to take part in the elves festivities, and even meet the one and only Santa before receiving a special Hamleys goody bag! Available from Saturday 20th November – Friday 24th December. Suitable for: 2-8 years. Cost: £45.00 for one group of 3 people. Additional people are charged at £15.00 per guest.
From the 27th November to the 3rd January you can meet Father Christmas, explore a festive trail and stock up at the sweet shop as The Magic of Christmas arrives at ZSL London Zoo. If your children are a little told to visit Santa try the Fun Festive Family trail. Head out across the Zoo, gathering information along the way, before reporting back to Mrs Claus in the polar post room, sending off your trail card to Santa and helping to make sure all the animals get the perfect present this Christmas!
From the 3rd to the 23rd of December, at Alexandra’s Palace, they had a word with the big man in red, bribed him with mulled wine and mince pies, and he has agreed to swap the North Pole for North London as he sets up camp in a lovely Grotto this December. Little ones are treated to a meeting with Santa, a small gift plus the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa at his festive grotto.
