Frequently asked questions

FAQs

How is inTuition different from other providers?

Our team has a combined experience of 20+ years working in schools, tuition centres and SEN centres. Together with our dedicated educational consultant, we continually update our methods and practises to maintain quality and purposeful learning. We also provide unique activities designed to develop children’s confidence and social skills.

How is the health and safety of my child ensured?

Our staff are fully trained in First Aid, Fire Safety and undergo comprehensive Child Safeguarding training. Staff also complete daily checks to ensure the centre is a safe environment for children. The centre has been approved by OFSTED on the Voluntary OFSTED register having met the requirements on providing a safe environment for children and staff.

If I have questions or concerns, whom do I contact?

Please contact the centre directly using the contact details on our website or fill in the form at the top of the page. A member of our team will be happy to help you.

Do you provide an assessment?

During the taster session, our tutors undertake an initial observation and then the first session booked will include an assessment appropriate for your child’s age and school year group. Further assessments and observations are undertaken throughout your child’s time at inTuition Clubs, which help us report on progress made and allow us to review and revise programmes of tuition to suit your child’s needs.

How are sessions tailored to the needs of each student?

The combination of a highly qualified tutor, working with the student’s school curriculum, and in coordination with the parents allows us to tailor the sessions to the student’s needs.

Will my child get the same tutor every time?

Not necessarily, but there will be a regular team of tutors in the centre. As the tuition programme is agreed all tutors can access the work and recommended programme of learning for your child. A change in tutor will mean that your child benefits from different styles of teaching, which in turn will lead to more independent learning and improved confidence levels as they work with different individuals.

What training and experience do the tutors have?

Our staff all come from an education background and are experienced tutors, teaching staff with experience of tutoring and working with children.

How long will it take to see improvement in my child's grades?

Rate of improvement in grades is affected by many factors including the frequency of the tutoring sessions, how far behind the student might be when tuition commences, and the commitment of the student themselves. Quite often, early indicators such as increased confidence and a more positive attitude about school present themselves prior to increases in results.

Will my child receive homework?

Yes, online and physical homework can be set upon parent request in advance.

How do I monitor my child's sessions and progress?

Children begin their learning journey with us by completing an initial assessment, which allows us to determine areas for improvement. A personal programme of tuition is devised, and our team monitor progress throughout the tuition. You will receive regular feedback from a member of staff when you collect your child at the end of each tuition session. A more formal report will be provided every month detailing the progress your child is making. We also hold regular parent meetings to discuss progress and agree the ongoing tuition programme for your child. You are also more than welcome to ask to have a chat with a manager should you need any further information at any time.

Please call the centre as soon as you know you cannot make the planned session. We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel and re-arrange a session.

How do I pay for the tuition?

Membership payments are collected on the 1st of the month by Direct Debit, unless you opt to make payment using Childcare Vouchers, Tax-Free Childcare, or agree to make regular payment using online banking. Please ask staff for details.

How much does tuition cost?

Different membership plans can be found on our website page and we would be happy to discuss any individual requirements and plan appropriately for your child.

Is the tutoring one-to-one or with a group?

Your child will be tutored in a small group, usually between 2 and 5 children in centre, however, your child will be working on their own personal programme of tuition, which has been devised to suit their ability level and focus on the required areas. Online Children have the option to be tutored in a small group of 3 or 1-1.

Where are the tutoring sessions held?

The tuition sessions are held in our purposely designed tuition centre on North Finchley High Road.

What subjects do you offer tutoring in?

We currently offer tuition for Maths,  English, Science and 11-Plus for primary-aged children.

Can I drop in anytime for sessions?

We ask that you book sessions in advance to ensure availability of tuition on the days that suit you and at the time that you want. All our tutors prepare specific material for your child in advance so sessions would need to be booked in beforehand.

Does the tuition work alongside what my child is learning at school?

Yes, the inTuition Curriculum is aligned with the National Curriculum. Our objective is to help your child to consolidate what they learn at school and become secure in subject areas they may be having difficulty with. Their learning with us will always be applicable to their studies at school.

Who are the team?

The team of tutors we work with come from a variety of backgrounds, including former and current educators, teachers, and subject specialist tutors. All our tutors undergo rigorous vetting and reference checks, and all must hold a full DBS check.
